Philadelphia Police Department Public Affairs Officer Jill Russell told the Northeast Times Wednesday morning that police resumed the search for the boy, who is from the Northeast, Wednesday morning at 6 a.m. Russell said she could not confirm the boy’s name, but CBS Philly listed him this morning as Sebastian Shannon, of Oxford Circle.

Police called off their Tuesday night search due to darkness. Around 7 p.m., rescue crews were still searching around the section of the creek at Frankford Avenue and Ashburner Street in Holmesburg, off the Pennypack Trail.

Police say the teen was playing with friends when he slipped and fell into the creek. The Pennypack Creek was swollen with water after heavy rainfall Tuesday morning.

It was reported that rescuers responded to the area off of the Pennypack Trail in Holmesburg at approximately 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

More information will be posted as it becomes available. ••
