A town hall meeting on the local illegal drug issue will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 7 p.m., at Fox Chase Swim Club, at 1098 Solly Ave. (east of Verree Road).
All are welcome.
The meeting will be hosted by swim club owner Janet Lazar and Mike Tomlinson. It is unrelated to Tomlinson’s campaign in the 5th Senatorial District. In fact, the club is located in the 3rd Senatorial District.
Lazar and Tomlinson want to raise awareness of drug problems in the community and to outline resources that are available to addicts and their loved ones. They are planning a neighborhood march and rally for October.
Among those scheduled to attend are Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers, members of the Philadelphia Police Department, elected officials, religious leaders, drug and alcohol counselors from CORA Services and officials from anti-drug organizations. ••
