Suspect in CVS robbery taken into custody by cops

Philadelphia police last Thursday announced the arrest of a Holmesburg man for the robbery of a Frankford CVS store.

Jay Rossitti, 38, of the 4600 block of Decatur St., is charged with robbery, theft, assault, reckless endangerment and related offenses. He is scheduled for a July 5 preliminary hearing and remains in jail in lieu of $150,000 bail.

On March 19, police said, Rossitti entered the CVS at 4035 Torresdale Ave. at 6:28 p.m., approached a cashier and gestured as if he had a weapon under his hooded sweatshirt. He allegedly demanded money from the cash register, obtained $80 and fled. No injuries were reported.

The identity of the robber was unknown at the time. On March 26, Northeast Detectives released surveillance video of the crime to the public. Seven days later, a tipster called detectives to identify the suspect in the video as Rossitti.

Police found Rossitti on April 26 at an undisclosed location and arrested him without incident. ••
