NE man shot to death; killer sought

Gunfire claimed the life of a Castor Gardens man and wounded a 17-year-old boy last Thursday night.

Police went to the intersection of Kindred Street and Unruh Avenue at 10:27 p.m. in response to a report of a hospital case and found Tyree Branch, 18, of the 6500 block of Horrocks St., lying in the street with a gunshot wound of the back. Paramedics were already attending to the victim and soon took him to Aria Health-Torresdale, where he was pronounced dead at 11:43 p.m.

Investigators learned that a second victim in the same shooting suffered a wound of the arm and was taken in a private vehicle to Jeanes Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Police have identified no suspects or motive in the case. Call the homicide unit at 215–686–3334 to report information about the shooting. ••
