Animal-cruelty charges have been filed against a Tacony woman after humane-enforcement officers from the Pennsylvania SPCA found 41 live cats and two dead ones inside her rowhouse on July 12.
Linda Galloway, of the 6200 block of Walker St., reportedly was active in rescuing stray or feral cats and bringing them to the PSPCA to have them spayed and neutered. But someone complained to authorities that she was keeping the cats in her home.
While officers found nine cats living in relatively sanitary conditions on the upper floors of the home, the rest of the felines, including the dead ones, were kept in the basement, which PSPCA officials described as covered in urine and feces.
Galloway, whose age was not released by the PSPCA, considered the upstairs cats her “personal pets,” according to the humane agency. The animal-cruelty charge is a misdemeanor. ••
