Nina Cohen stands in the kitchen of Klein JCC as volunteers prepare meals for homebound seniors.
The staff at the JCC Klein Branch recently honored the memory of colleague Nina Cohen, who died June 1 after a brief battle with cancer.
Cohen, who was in her 60s, served as the director of the emergency food and home-delivered meals programs. She was on a medical leave of absence at the time of her death.
Family and friends joined in the Oneg Shabbat celebration of Cohen’s life. She worked for the agency for 10 years, leading a program that produces about 50,000 meals annually for senior citizens who cannot prepare food for themselves.
Cohen (nee Labowitz) was the widow of Bennett Robert “Bob” Cohen. She is survived by her adult children, Lorin and Andrew; brother Lester Weinraub; sisters Helene Weinraub and Marsha Weinraub; and grandchildren Daniel Jack, Ryan James and Michael Austin.
