I-95 Cottman-Princeton interchange project delayed

State Sen. Mike Stack (D-5th dist.) and state Rep. Mike McGeehan (D-173rd dist.) on Jan. 11 jointly announced that the second phase of construction on the Interstate 95 Cottman-Princeton interchange project in Tacony has been delayed.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation withdrew its advertisement for construction bids in order to help 12 local businesses relocate. The businesses are in the direct path of the planned reconfigured interchange.

“We want the community to know that the department assures us that this delay is only temporary, and the construction bids would open again in the early spring,” Stack said. “It’s important that our local businesses are relocated in a timely manner but with the assurance that they have a smooth transition.”

“We understand that the community is going through a lot of changes because of the construction, including our local businesses that must relocate in order for the next phase of the project to commence,” McGeehan said. “We will continue to stay in contact with PennDOT and report any progress to the community as we receive updates.” ••
