The crash occurred at 6:49 a.m. on the 5400 block of Torresdale Ave., according to a police spokeswoman. The victim was walking across the street midblock in an eastbound direction when a northbound pickup truck struck her and fled the scene. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police recovered the suspected vehicle, an older model blue truck with silver flames painted on the sides, unattended on the 5900 block of Milnor St. at about 7:30 a.m. It had damage consistent with the crash.

Around the same time, the owner of the truck called police to report the vehicle stolen. He has been cooperating with investigators and has not been charged.

Call the accident investigation division at 215–685–3180 to report information. ••
