Area civic groups set meetings

Capt. Deborah Kelly, commander of the 8th Police District, invites the public to attend her next town hall meeting on Thursday, Sept. 22, from 6 to 7 p.m., at 8th district headquarters, Academy and Red Lion roads. Residents of the district will be able to discuss pubic safety issues with the captain.

In the past, the 8th district Town Hall meetings were held on the first Wednesday each month. But for the future, they will be scheduled on a month-to-month basis. Visit the calendar page on www.philapd8.org for a full schedule of events in the district.

The Upper Holmesburg Civic Association will hold its next general meeting on Thursday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m., at St. Dominic’s Marian Hall, 8532 Frankford Ave. The meeting is open to the public and free to attend. Neighborhood zoning and other local issues will be discussed.

On Wednesday, Sept. 28, the Holme Circle Civic Association will hold its first meeting of the fall session at St. Jerome’s School hall, Stamford and Colfax streets, at 7 p.m.

Topics will include discussion of the ongoing Holme Avenue Bridge construction project and the Welsh Road detour. All residents are invited to attend. ••
