Remembering the 27 Crusaders, which first screened at Father Judge in November, is available for purchase from the link below. The film features interviews with the families of the fallen soldiers and the lasting impact it left on their own lives and the lives of their families.

Beginning production in the spring, filmmakers Shawn Swords, John Ricciutti and their team endeavored to interview as many of the families as they could. They uncovered stories such as families refusing to celebrate holidays and suppressing their pain rather than talking about it openly.

“Nobody talked about [the impact] in 50 years,” Swords said. “This [documentary] is the first time a lot of people talked about it.”

The documentary also explores growing up in Northeast Philadelphia before and during the war, the values instilled at Father Judge, and the patriotism of the community. ••
