Little Flower celebrating 80th anniversary on Sunday

Little Flower High School, 10th and Lycoming streets, will celebrate its 80th anniversary on Sunday, Sept. 29, with a Mass and luncheon.

The Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., followed by the luncheon at noon.

“Since I assumed the presidency in July 2018, I have yet to go through a day without meeting someone who hasn’t in some way been inspired by someone who attended Little Flower. From the minute a student steps into the building, she knows it is where she belongs. Over Little Flower’s 80 years, 72,000 maroon and white saddle shoes have been worn by the most loyal alums among the 17 archdiocesan high schools. Little Flower women love faithfully, live fully and lead fearlessly,” said school president Jeane McNamara.

In addition to the celebration slated for Sunday, Little Flower students will celebrate a liturgy for the Feast of St. Thérèse on Tuesday, Oct. 1. On Oct. 7, the students will come together to spell out “LF80” and sing their alma mater.

Bishop Michael J. Fitzgerald will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving at Little Flower on Wednesday, Oct. 9, which coincides with the Feast Day of St. Dennis. It was the personal financial support and devotion to St. Thérèse of Dennis Cardinal Dougherty that established Little Flower.
