Congratulations to these Northeast Philadelphia scholars

Aaron Siegelman, a member of the imaging science program, and Vince Darmohray, who is in the biotechnology and molecular bioscience program, made the dean’s list at Rochester Institute of Technology for the 2020 spring semester. Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for dean’s list if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400; they do not have any grades of “Incomplete,” “D” or “F”; and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours. ••

Brianne Murphy has been named to the dean’s list at James Madison University for the spring 2020 semester. Students who earn dean’s list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of 3.5 to 3.899. Murphy is a health sciences major. ••

More than 1,100 students were named to the president’s list at Coastal Carolina University for the spring 2020 semester, including Alyssa Ballassona-Venuti, an early childhood education major. ••

The University of Delaware announced its dean’s list for the spring 2020 semester. To meet eligibility requirements, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA of 3.5 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the semester. Local members of the dean’s list are Eliza Askarova, Marissa Carroll, Tara Cohen, Christopher Hope, Emily Jardel, Perri Keehfuss, Jessica Loughery, Maggie McLaughlin, Spencer Shore and Caitlin Sweeney. ••

The following local college students participated as a member of the Alvernia Campus Lions Club while studying at Alvernia University during the 2019-2020 school year:

Djnie Chery, who is studying nursing; Jessica Flanigan, who is studying biology; and Kira Griffenberg, who is studying forensic science. ••

Jackson Fonseca-Webb was named to the Middle Atlantic Conference Academic Honor Roll after competing for the Alvernia University Golden Wolves men’s lacrosse team. Fonseca-Webb was one of 214 student-athletes to represent Alvernia on the honor roll by excelling in the classroom with a semester GPA of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) or higher. Fonseca-Webb, a graduate of Roman Catholic High School, is studying accounting. ••

HaoJun Zhen was one of 64 students from Susquehanna University chosen recently to present research at the annual National Conference on Undergraduate Research at Montana State University. Zhen’s research was titled “Simulated High Altitude (Low Pressure) and Low Oxygen Levels May Exert Separate Effects on HIF Expression in Drosophila melanogaster.” Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s conference was canceled. Zhen, a biology major in the Class of 2020, is a graduate of Central High School. ••
