Bashir collects cash in campaign homestretch

Aaron Bashir, the Republican candidate in the 172nd Legislative District, welcomed about 100 people last week to a fundraiser at Bensalem’s Pen Ryn Estate.

Bashir, who is challenging Democratic Rep. Kevin Boyle, is running on a campaign of law and order, safer neighborhoods, preserving the American Dream, family values and school choice.

“Parents should have a choice,” he said.

Bashir took some time out that night to attend a Holmesburg Civic Association Zoom meeting. State Rep. Joe Hohenstein also attended the online civic meeting.

Among those at the fundraiser were former City Councilman Al Taubenberger; congressional candidate Michael Harvey, state party official Calvin Tucker; People4Trump founder Jim Worthington; and state legislative candidates Lou Menna, Kelly Bellerby-Allen, Charlie Adcock and Ruth Moton.

Gary Grisafi’s Blu Dogz Trio provided entertainment.

State Sen. Doug Mastriano was billed as the headliner, but he could not attend due to a bout with food poisoning.

Stacy Garrity, the Republican candidate for state treasurer, was scheduled to attend the Oct. 13 fundraiser, but was invited to speak that night at a rally for President Donald Trump in Johnstown. Garrity tested positive for COVID-19 the next day, though it’s unclear when she was infected. ••
