The Block Gives Back on Saturday afternoon provided homeless people with a catered meal and bags of essentials.
The Tacony-based group traveled to 16th Street and JFK Boulevard to provide a meal of wings, meatballs, chicken, mac and cheese, green beans, corn and potatoes.
Next, members and volunteers handed out 350 bags filled with soap, women’s hygiene products, hand sanitizer, socks, hats, gloves, chapstick, deodorant and lotion.
Empowering Cuts provided free haircuts.
The event marked the fifth year the Block Gives Back has treated the homeless of Center City. ••
