Police search for serial phone robber

Police are looking for a man who was serially robbed MetroPCS locations in Northeast Philadelphia.

Police are trying to track down a suspect who has taken his interest in technology too far.

Surveillance footage has been released showing the suspect targeting three MetroPCS locations four times over five-week span.

The first incident happened Dec. 9, when the suspect entered a store located at 915 Levick St. armed with a handgun. The video shows the suspect rushing into the store and leading the employee over to the cash register. Police say he took money from the register as well as 10 iPhones valued at $10,000.

The suspect followed similar patterns in subsequent robberies. On Dec. 15, he entered a store at 721 Adams Ave. again armed with a handgun. He forced a 29-year-old employee to open the register and claimed an undisclosed amount of money.

He behaved similarly when he robbed a store at 1105 Cottman Ave. on Dec. 21. Again he claimed money from the register after forcing an employee to open it, and also took numerous phones from a display case.

On Jan. 15, the suspect again targeted the store located at 721 Adams Ave. Police say he was buzzed into the store, where the employee recognized him wearing similar clothing as his previous robbery. He handed the employee his black messenger bag and told him, “You know what to do.” He told the employee not to chase him at gunpoint as he exited the store, and was last seen fleeing toward Roosevelt Boulevard.

Police did not release an official description, though the video shows him wearing a similar dark hooded sweatshirt and hat in each robbery. He wears dark pants and shoes and appears to sport a bushy beard and moustache.
