Holy Family wins CACC volleyball crown

The Holy Family volleyball team celebrates after winning the CACC championship.

Once again, they’re the best in their conference.

For the second time in three seasons, the Holy Family University women’s volleyball team won the championship. This year, in a shortened season that was played in the spring, the Tigers bested top-seeded Georgian Court University 3-1 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference championship.

Senior Carly Covington (Delmar, Maryland/Delmar) was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player as she totaled 18 kills and 19 digs. Joining her on the All-Tournament team were senior Camille Johnson, juniors Tayana Bennett and Morgan Silks  and sophomore Allyssa Hartney.

This was the third straight season the Tigers advanced to the championship game.

Senior Carly Covington was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player as she totaled 18 kills and 19 digs.
Morgan Silks finished the championship match with a season-high 48 assists to go along with seven digs.
Holy Family has won two of the last three CACC titles.
Allyssa Hartney had 15 kills in the championship while averaging 4.2 kills per set in the tournament.
