Holme Circle resident Alex Horanzy was among six survivors of the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor who met President Donald Trump last week at the White House to commemorate the 76th anniversary of the surprise attack that plunged the United States into World War II.

Trump on Dec. 7 issued a proclamation for National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.

Horanzy, 95, enlisted in the U.S. Army when he was 17.

Joining Horanzy at the ceremony were Michael Ganitch, of California; George Blake, of Colorado; Jack Holder and Robert Fernandez, both of Arizona; and Lawrence Parry, of New York.

The visit was made possible by The Greatest Generations Foundation. ••
