Police are investigating a Sunday night carjacking/murder in Rhawnhurst.
The incident took place on the 2100 block of Afton St.
At about 8:12 p.m., 2nd Police District officers responded to a radio call report of a “person with a gun.” Upon arrival, the officers observed an unresponsive male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen and back. Medic Unit 12 responded and transported the male to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:02 p.m.
Police identified the victim as 60-year-old George Briscella, from the 1800 block of Lansing St., just a few blocks from the crime scene. Briscella was visiting his mom at the time of the crime.
No weapon was recovered, and no arrest made.
Police hope video helps them catch what is believed to be three suspects. ••
