St. Dominic Elementary School, 8510 Frankford Ave. in Holmesburg, held a pep rally for the Eagles on Friday afternoon.

Students and staff gathered in the lot in the back of the school. The youngsters were able to dress down in Eagles gear if they brought in a donation for a “Souper Bowl” canned good drive.

Teacher Paul Coates was DJ and started the rally by playing Whitney Houston’s version of the national anthem from Super Bowl XXV. The kids sang the Eagles’ Victory Song (Fly, Eagles Fly) and chanted E-A-G-L-E-S.

Coates asked Eagles trivia questions, accompanied by the theme from Rocky, with prizes for correct answers.

The day ended with a flag football game.

The Eagles, of course, came up a little short against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night, losing 38-35. ••
