Congratulations to these Northeast scholars.

The Northeast Times would like to congratulate the following college graduates, students who were named to their school’s dean’s list, and area residents who recently received special honors.

Mary Elise Lynch, a member of Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine’s Class of 2017, received the Lackawanna County Medical Society Alliance “Excellence in Women’s Health” award at a ceremony. Members of LCMSA donated funds to Geisinger Commonwealth, in Scranton, to award a prize to the fourth-year medical student who contributed the most to the field of women’s health. Dr. Lynch has been a passionate volunteer and advocate for women’s health, completing volunteer experiences in Guatemala and in Kenya, where she used a Fulbright award to study HIV rapid testing. She will complete her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Boston University Medical Center.

Jessica Coughlin was one of nearly 700 Lebanon Valley College students named to the dean’s list. Dean’s list students must maintain a GPA of at least 3.4 out of 4.0. Coughlin, a graduate of Philadelphia Academy Charter School, received a degree in English and sociology.

Kevin Richardson completed Colby-Sawyer College’s internship requirement with Little Harbor Advisors in Marblehead, Massachusetts. Richardson majors in business administration at Colby-Sawyer, located in New Hampshire.

Brynn Conroy earned a spot on the University of Dayton dean’s list, which honors undergraduate students achieving a minimum 3.5 GPA for the semester.

Kristen Doyle, a member of the class of 2019, has been named to the dean’s list at Loyola University Maryland. To qualify for the dean’s list at Loyola, a student must achieve a minimum GPA of at least 3.500 while completing 15 credits.

The following local residents made the dean’s list at Rochester Institute of Technology: Vince Darmohray, who is studying biotechnology and molecular bioscience, and Hayley Bartkus, who is studying diagnostic medical sonography. Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for dean’s list if their GPA is at least 3.400; they do not have any grades of “Incomplete,” “D” or “F”; and they have completed at least 12 credits.

The following local Immaculata University students were named to the dean’s list, having achieved a grade point average of at least 3.7: Eliana Carino, Michael Sturdivant, Olivia Carter, Gina Cocci, Brendan Hanagan, Caitlin MacGregor and Jared Viz.

Shana Rajan and Gabriella Bryce made the dean’s list at Seton Hall University. To qualify, a student must take at least 12 credits, finish with a GPA of 3.4 or above and have no grades lower than “C.”

The following local Albright College students were named to the dean’s list: David Gavrilov, a senior business administration: management major; Alyssa Kates, a sophomore psychology major; and Kiersten Stark, a junior psychology/sociology/criminology major. Albright students had to attain at least a 3.75 term grade point average to be named to the list.

Widener University conferred degrees to more than 400 graduate students.

The graduates included Amanda Doran (doctorate in physical therapy), Riya Rajan (doctorate in physical therapy), Edward Sabara (doctorate in physical therapy), Marisa Santiago (doctorate in physical therapy), Richard Meagher (doctorate in psychology), Sandra Tecosky (doctorate in psychology), Sembat Dramgotchian (master’s in business administration), Lauren Garcia (master’s in education), Kerri Keen (master’s in education), Pauline Fulton-Hill (master’s in social work) and Catherine Tyler (master’s in social work). ••
