An Otherworld experience for Ethan Allen 8th-graders

Ethan Allen Elementary School eighth-graders enjoyed their class trip, a visit to Otherworld, 2500 Grant Ave.

The eighth-grade class trip had been scheduled for February, when the students were supposed to see a performance of A Raisin in the Sun, at Bristol Riverside Theatre. But it snowed that day, and the trip was canceled.

So, staff arranged for a June 6 trip to Otherworld, where people are encouraged to use their imagination as they walk through countless rooms of large-scale interactive art, mixed reality playgrounds and secret passageways in a surreal landscape of science fiction and fantasy.

The Ethan Allen group, which included one seventh-grader, enjoyed the experience.

“It’s very nice in here,” said Alayiah Abdullah. “The rooms are very nice, and I like the designs.”

Teachers Ezra Goodman and Brandon Luroe thanked Otherworld for offering Ethan Allen a good deal on tickets. The students also had a box lunch.

In all, there were seven chaperones, including a couple of parents, as students took self-guided tours.

“It was cool,” said Tiffany Thomas. “I would come back.”

Alayiah, Tiffany and the other eighth-graders graduated on June 12, and the trip to Otherworld proved to be a nice part of their sendoff.

“This is a really fun place to go,” said Lillie Knox. “You can interact with a lot of things.” ••
