Crowded Boulevard Wawa held up

A robber used a demand note to hold up a crowded convenience store in Mayfair last Thursday night, police say.

Several patrons were waiting in line inside the Wawa at 7001 Roosevelt Blvd. at about 11:30 p.m. when the suspect placed a jug of iced tea on the sales counter and handed a note to the teller demanding cash from the register. The note stated, “I’m not playing no games,” police say.

The cashier, a 24-year-old man, placed the iced tea in one bag and stuffed an undisclosed amount of paper money into a second bag. The robber fled the store and was last seen walking eastbound on Tyson Avenue. No injuries were reported.

The robber was described as black, in his early 20s, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a medium build, red baseball cap, black puffy jacket and black pants.
