Wissinoming man shot, killed outside home

A Wissinoming man succumbed in a hail of bullets outside his rowhome on Sept. 27, reportedly when he had stepped outside to smoke a cigarette.

The gunfire erupted at about 11:53 p.m. on the 6000 block of Vandike St. Police went to the scene in response to 911 calls about the shooting. They found Isaiah Batties, 31, in the living room of his house suffering from multiple wounds. Paramedics took him to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:23 a.m.

Police believe that Batties was shot outside before running into the house and collapsing. 6ABC reported that about 10 shots were fired, striking the victim in the chest, stomach and legs. The shooter or shooters then fled.

No suspects have been named. A motive is not known. ••
