Police: Church bandit also hit restaurants

A Port Richmond man has been accused of breaking into a Catholic church in the Northeast and stealing cash from two donation boxes, but that’s not his only crime, authorities claim.

David Kology, 46, of the 3000 block of Belgrade St., also burglarized at least four area eateries, according to criminal charges announced by Philadelphia police on Monday. Officers arrested Kology near his home last Friday.

The church burglary occurred on Aug. 21. At about 11 p.m., Kology allegedly broke a window to access Our Lady of Calvary at 11024 Knights Road. He took money from one donation box and ripped a second donation box from a wall.

Kology also broke into Bellissimo’s Pizza at 7816 Castor Ave. on Aug. 21, Cafe Italiano at 1871 Cottman Ave. on Aug. 24, KFC at 9021 Frankford Ave. on Aug. 25 and Supreme Pizza at 7514 Castor Ave. on Aug. 27, police say. He has been charged with burglary and related offenses in each case. He is held at Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility in lieu of $35,000 bail pending an Oct. 6 preliminary hearing. ••
