Jomal Mathew
Global star: Jomal Mathew, a sixth-grader at Maternity BVM Elementary School, was the only Philadelphia qualifier to the National Geographic State Bee. Jomal competed in the state meet at the State Museum of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg. To qualify, he won a school competition and then had to take a 70-question online test. “We are very proud of Jomal,” said Rosemary Washburn, Jomal’s sixth-grade teacher.
