Samurai swordsman bursts into nail salon

One can only imagine what the patrons of a Northeast nail salon must have been thinking last Friday. Had they been transported to medieval Japan? Or perhaps an old Saturday Night Live skit?

What else might explain why an unknown man burst into Supreme Nail Salon, in the Academy Plaza at 3200 Red Lion Road, and began swinging a 28 1/2-inch samurai sword? According to police, employees said that the man was making martial arts-type gestures. The man also may have been wearing traditional Asian clothing, but no shoes, according to a witness.

He was still at the salon when police arrived. Officers captured him and took him to Friends Hospital for psychological evaluation. He was not charged criminally. ••
