Alleged murderer surrenders to police

The alleged trigger man in the double murder of a senior woman and her roommate inside their Holmesburg rowhouse in 2014 surrendered to police last Friday.

Ronald Dorsey, 27, of the 1100 block of E. Upsal St., is accused of conspiring with James Mears to rob Dollie Evans, 67, inside Evans’ home on the 4700 block of Vista St. on Aug. 23, 2014. Authorities believe that the men targeted Evans because she was dealing crack cocaine from the house. It became a murder case when the robbery went bad and Dorsey allegedly shot Evans in the head, then strangled and shot Ruby Thomas, 57, because she witnessed the crime.

Mears, who was living with the victims at the time, was arrested in December 2014 and eventually pleaded guilty to third-degree murder. Dorsey is charged with two counts of murder and related offenses. ••
