Holmesburg shooting leaves man injured

A shooting in a Holmesburg driveway on March 16 left a motorist with a head wound and police searching for evidence linking a suspect to the gunfire.

It happened in the driveway behind the 4700 blocks of Meridian and Lansing streets at about 9:45 p.m. A neighbor told police that he heard gunshots and looked out his window to see a male running from the scene. Meanwhile, a 2001 Mercury Sable crashed into a couple of parked cars before coming to rest.

Police found the driver unconscious and bleeding from an injury behind his left ear. Police also found a bullet slug on the dashboard. The victim was taken to Aria Health’s Torresdale campus for emergency surgery and listed in serious condition.

Based on the witness’ information, police tracked the suspect to a house on the 4700 block of Lansing St. They spoke to the 22-year-old man and took him to Northeast Detectives for questioning, but filed no charges. The investigation is ongoing. ••
