The Pennsylvania SPCA on Saturday removed 17 animals living in filthy conditions from a property on the 7900 block of Marsden St. in Holmesburg.
The SPCA’s Humane Law Enforcement Officers executed a search warrant at the residence, where 15 small dogs and two cats were removed.
Officers were called to the property after receiving a tip from the Philadelphia Police Department of several animals allegedly living in unsanitary conditions.
The animals rescued were taken to the SPCA’s Erie Avenue headquarters, where they were examined and cared for by the shelter’s veterinary team.
They will remain in the care of the SPCA until they are surrendered by the owner, or through the adjudication of the case.
