Martin Luther King’s legacy was celebrated on Monday at Abington Friends School, as students made meals for the Northeast-based Aid for Friends.
Members of the Tookany/Tacony-Frankford Watershed were scheduled to clean up the creek that flows through the campus, but their efforts were postponed because of cold temperatures.
In all, more than 450 volunteers participated in more than a dozen projects as part of a Day of Service.
The other projects included making hats, scarves, blankets, bread, cookies and soup for the needy and assembling craft and activity bags for patients at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children.
Abington Friends is a Quaker school serving families of children from age 3 to 12th grade. It is located in Jenkintown. ••
