Libraries offer free video production workshops

There are workshop slots available at the Northeast Regional and West Oak Lane Branch libraries.

The Free Library of Philadelphia and PhillyCAM, the city’s public access TV channel, are collaborating on a pilot project to bring free video production workshops to the Northeast Regional and West Oak Lane Branch libraries now through September.

Professional instructors will provide video production education on smartphones and tablets to individuals and groups at each library on selected dates.

The workshops will cover filming, editing and social media sharing skills. Participants will create original media about their communities that will be compiled in an online digital collection called the People’s Media Collection.

Instructors will work with groups of up to 15 people at a time, ages 8 and up. There are four workshop slots available each week at the two library sites. Two are held at Northeast Regional on Wednesdays, while two are at West Oak Lane on Tuesdays. All workshops last between 90 minutes and three hours and take place between noon and 6 p.m.

Visit peoplesmediacollection.org to sign up for or request a workshop. ••
