Gunmen steal $16K during home invasion in Tacony

Three gunmen made off with as much as $16,000 after they broke into the home of a Tacony man, robbed him, kidnapped him and stole cash from a convenience store where he works, Philadelphia police said.

The 44-year-old victim and three younger adults were inside a home on the 6500 block of Hegerman St. at about 1:10 a.m. on Friday when the three suspects broke into the property through the back door, according to Officer Christine O’Brien, a police spokeswoman. All three bandits had black handguns and were demanding money.

The victim gave the crooks between $5,000 and $7,000. Two of the suspects then covered the victim’s head and drove him to the Quick Stop at 6301 Torresdale Ave. where he works. There, the gunmen demanded more money; the victim gave them another $8,000 to $9,000.

The two kidnappers left the victim at the store and returned to Hegerman Street, where they rejoined the third suspect and fled the house.

The other occupants of the house, a 25-year-old man, a 21-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy, reported no injuries.

One suspect was described as white, 5-feet-6 and 170 pounds. He wore a silver hood, blue jeans, yellow and black gloves and a black mask. A second suspect was described as black, 6-feet tall and 150 pounds, wearing blue jeans, a black hood, black mask and black gloves. The third suspect was described as black, 6-feet tall and 170 pounds, with dark clothing and a black mask.
