Woman fatally struck crossing Boulevard

The city medical examiner’s office has identified the woman who was struck by a car and killed on Friday as she attempted to walk across Roosevelt Boulevard.

Pamela Wells, of the 8900 block of Frankford Ave., died of blunt impact trauma, said Jeff Moran, a Department of Public Health spokesman. The death was ruled accidental. Her age was not disclosed.

The crash occurred just after 6 a.m. at the intersection of Welsh Road. Wells was crossing the Boulevard eastbound when a 1991 Honda Civic struck her in the northbound inner lanes, said Officer Jillian Russell, a Philadelphia police spokeswoman.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:05 a.m. The driver, who was identified by police only as a male, remained at the scene and has not been charged criminally. ••
