Deana Paulik
A Holmesburg man and a young Cherry Hill woman tried to knock off a Bensalem bank on Aug. 27, but they didn’t get away with it for very long, authorities claim.
Joseph Coraluzzi, 32, and his baby-faced alleged accomplice, 24-year-old Deana Paulik, were both arrested one day after the doomed heist, according to Bensalem police.
Coraluzzi allegedly walked into Fulton Bank, at 2100 Street Road, shortly before 1 p.m. that Tuesday and handed a demand note to a teller indicating he had a gun. Authorities said the teller surrendered an undisclosed amount of cash to Coraluzzi, who fled the bank in an unknown direction and by unknown means. The robber wore a black hooded sweatshirt and black shorts, but had made no apparent attempt to obscure his facial appearance. Surveillance images showed his short dark brown hair, unshaven face and lanky build.
Bensalem police distributed images of the robber publicly and were able to identify Coraluzzi, a resident of the 4500 block of Marple St., as the prime suspect. They issued an arrest warrant for him and captured him on Aug. 28 during a car stop in Maple Shade. A photo of his arrest released by Bensalem police shows Coraluzzi with a shaved head and eyeglasses.
Authorities later determined that Paulik conspired in the robbery, but did not explain how.
Coraluzzi will be extradited to Pennsylvania to face charges in Bucks County. Paulik was arraigned by District Justice Joseph Falcone on Aug. 28. ••
