Surveillance photo
A man walked into a Castor Gardens pharmacy on Feb. 25, flashed a badge to employees and declared that he was conducting a narcotics investigation. Yet, the man isn’t a cop, according to the legitimate Philadelphia police.
Northeast Detectives are trying to identify the impersonator and have released surveillance video of him. The footage can be viewed on the Philadelphia Police channel on YouTube.com.
The incident occurred at noon on the 6400 block of Castor Ave., police said. The imposter was described as a black and 30 to 40 years old with black and gray hair, a black jacket and black pants with a stripe on each leg. After approaching the pharmacy counter, he showed employees a wallet containing what appeared to be a police badge and ID card. He stated that he was there to question employees about false prescriptions that the business had filled, police said.
The workers allowed the man behind the counter, but became suspicious of his identity. One of the clerks called 911, prompting the visitor to abruptly flee. He was last seen walking out the front door, then northbound on Castor Avenue.
