A Lawncrest man has been charged with murder in connection with the June 21 fatal shooting of another man on the 500 block of Rosalie St.
Homicide detectives believe that robbery was the motive for William Stancil, 19, when he allegedly gunned down Jose Rivera in the street at about 1:46 a.m. Police arrested Stancil, of the 500 block of Sanger St., on Aug. 15. He remains in Philadelphia prison custody and awaits a Sept. 3 preliminary hearing. Patrol cops were called to the murder scene shortly after the shooting and found Rivera, 35, of the 3000 block of N. Franklin St., lying in the street with a wound of the chest. He died at the scene.
Police did not disclose how they identified Stancil as the alleged killer or release circumstances of his capture. ••
