PECO conducts equipment maintenance in Northeast

In looking around the city for trouble with its equipment, PECO found and fixed some in the Northeast.

PECO checks for damaged equipment and sagging lines every year as workers inspect 10,000 miles of aerial power lines and 1,884 circuits. The utility also uses infrared cameras to spot issues before an outage occurs by recording temperature variations within operating equipment. PECO’s maintenance program also includes regular inspection of electric and natural gas equipment.

In the Northeast, according to spokesman Greg Smore, “we identified 76 corrective maintenance tasks that, when completed, will help prevent outages for 99,258 customers.”

Those tasks included replacing old equipment, installing new gear and tree and vegetation trimming. ••
