Coats will be donated to needy children

Truckloads of new winter coats that will be given to needy area children arrived at the YMCA on Knights Road Monday morning.

The delivery was part of the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation’s seventh annual program to give underprivileged kids some warmth as the weather cools. In all, the foundation, an arm of the Philly Auto Show, will distribute more than 37,000 coats in the Greater Philadelphia area.

Mike Nemec, controller of Dunphy Ford, said dealers in the five-county Philly area pay for the coats.

Of the 172 dealerships that participate in the program, 15 are within the city’s borders. They are: Central City Toyota, Chapman Chevrolet, Dunphy Ford, Chapman Ford Volkswagen, Family Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Chapman Nissan, Faulkner Hyundai, Gordon Chevrolet, Pacifico Ford, Pacifico Hyundai, Pacifico Mazda, Piazza Honda of Philadelphia, Sloane Honda, Sloane Toyota of Philadelphia, and The All New Barbera’s Autoland. ••
