Philadelphia police baseball team to compete Friday

The Philadelphia Blue Sox police baseball team has a score to settle and it’s for a great cause when they take on the New York Finest team on Friday night, Aug. 28, at the Trenton Thunder’s Arm & Hammer Park.

New York’s police team defeated the Blue Sox earlier this season in the semifinals of the World Police and Fire Games in Fairfax, Virginia, on their way to the gold medal. The Blue Sox won the bronze. The rematch will raise funds for the Fraternal Order of Police Survivors Fund.

Arm & Hammer Park is a professional stadium, home to the New York Yankees’ Double-A affiliate in the Eastern League. Gates open at 6 p.m. with the first pitch slated for 7. A fireworks show will follow the game.

“We want to do something special for the families of the fallen officers,” said Ofc. Billy Killian, founder and general manager of the Blue Sox.

Arm & Hammer Park is at 1 Thunder Road on the Trenton waterfront. It’s a 25-minute drive from FOP Lodge 5. Tickets are available at the stadium and at the Lodge 5 office, 11630 Caroline Road. Visit philapolicebluesox.com or call 267–688–7212 for information. ••
