Volunteers collect 43 bags of trash at Pennypack Park

Thirty-three volunteers collected 43 bags of litter, six bags of recyclable cans and many assorted objects from the Little City area of Pennypack Park on Nov. 28 in an event organized by the Friends of Pennypack Park.

Participants included Roland Williams, Cuba Rodriguez, Anamaria Lessner, Kim McCauley Schaefer, Paul Schaefer, Susan Ream, Frank Jakob, Anna Boudreau, Gabriel Boudreau, Tracy Doll, Edward Doll, Walt Calhoun, Joe Calhoun, Ty Tyson, Alan Kaminsky, Alan Ostrow, Jim Stewart, Sandy Stewart, Skip Schempp, Vicki Schempp, Sondra Greenberg, Dean Lynd, Rich Glaser, Ken Lewis, Tim McAndrews, Tom Henry, Bob McMunn, Andrew Puzdrak, George Scholl, Joyce Ferraro, Bill Henderson, Jim Smyth and Nance Kerns.

In addition, a dump truck crew from the Department of Parks and Recreation removed the bags from the collection site.

The list of objects found in the park included four car tires, a trash can lid, a paint roller, an aluminum chair, an oven rack, a carpet remnant, a ceramic figurine, clothing, a knee brace, a golf ball, a hockey stick, fishing equipment, a horseshoe, a pacifier, a softball, a pole vault crossbar, a pool cue, two car bumpers, a hubcap, an inner tube, a piece of guardrail, three cinder blocks, two wooden palettes, part of a light pole, two campaign signs, three bales of hay, a wire spool, a shopping cart and an aluminum mug.

The monthly park cleanups will cease for the winter and will resume on the fourth Saturday in March.
