Oftentimes, killers try to hide their victims’ bodies in secluded places. But last Thursday, three people decided to dump a mortally wounded man on a busy stretch of Frankford Avenue during the evening rush hours.
Police identified the victim as Brian Jones, 40, of the 200 block of Stanford Road in Fairless Hills, Bucks County.
Witnesses called 911 shortly after 6:30 p.m. when they discovered Jones lying unresponsive on the sidewalk in front of a dental office on the 8000 block of Frankford Ave. Paramedics were first to arrive at the scene and tried to revive Jones, but they were unsuccessful and pronounced him dead at 6:45 p.m. Police took the victim to the medical examiner’s office, where investigators found a gunshot wound to the rear of Jones’ left shoulder.
Detectives obtained surveillance video that showed two unidentified men and a woman dragging Jones’ body out of the dental office building and leaving him on the sidewalk. The building also houses rental apartment units.
“You can clearly see that this body was dragged from inside the building, outside to where it lays now, and left on the sidewalk,” Chief Inspector Scott Small said at the scene.
Police did not say when the video footage was recorded, but they suspect that the culprits attempted to use a rag to block the view of one surveillance camera inside the building. An exterior camera was unobstructed.
Police questioned two people about the case on Thursday night, Small said, but there were no arrests.
6ABC reported that three people may have been seen fleeing the building from a rear window as authorities arrived at the scene. ••
