Arrest made in Fox Chase shooting

A 26-year-old man was wounded in the leg by a volley of gunfire less than a block from the Fox Chase Elementary School yard early Monday.

Police arrested the suspected gunman, but have not determined a motive. His identity has not been released.

The shots erupted at about 2 a.m. on the 8000 block of Halstead St. Police arrived at the scene to find the victim, whose identity was not released, lying in the street with a wound of the left leg. Paramedics took him to Aria-Jefferson Health’s Torresdale Campus in stable condition. The victim told police he did not know the shooter.

Nonetheless, investigators soon developed a description of the suspected shooter and found him on the 700 block of Rhawn St. Police arrested the suspect and recovered a handgun that may have been used in the shooting. ••
