The attack happened behind the Aldworth Funeral Home, 4117 Decatur St., shortly after 8 p.m. Police did not identify the victim by name, but neighbors said that he was funeral director Harry Aldworth.
When police arrived at the scene, paramedics were treating Aldworth for four broken ribs, a concussion and multiple facial cuts that required stitches to close. After about 15 minutes, the robber fled on foot westbound on Decatur toward Frankford Avenue. He was further described as tall, thin, in his 30s, with facial hair, long pants and blue sneakers. Call 215–686-TIPS or text to PPD TIP to report information. ••
