Northeast man named president at Neumann-Goretti

Joseph McColgan’s lengthy resume includes serving as principal of Acretive/212° and an officer of the United States Navy.

Joseph McColgan, an East Torresdale resident and graduate of Archbishop Ryan High School, is the new president of Neumann-Goretti High School in South Philadelphia.

McColgan, whose appointment took effect on Tuesday, succeeds Bruce Robinson, who resigned after the school year.

McColgan has served since 2015 as principal of Acretive/212° — ACC, an early development start-up where he created a full-service hands-on Office of Supervisory Jurisdiction. In this role, he provided services to clients, which include professional marketing and personal brand building; strategic and career coaching; professional development; training; and objective financial advice and investment research.

Prior to his time at Acretive/212°, McColgan held management positions in the field of finance at institutions including Fisher Investments, Wells Fargo Private Bank, SEI Investment Co., Philadelphia Consulting Group, LLC and Merrill Lynch.

Prior to his time in finance, he served for five years as an officer in the United States Navy at the Naval Amphibious Base in Coronado, California.

He was a Republican nominee for U.S. House of Representatives in 1990 and ’96. He was also a candidate for an at-large City Council seat in 2011.

He is a parishioner at St. Katherine of Siena Parish and serves on several boards, including the Philadelphia Veterans Comfort House, the East Torresdale Civic Association, Catholic Philopatrian Literary Institute and Prevent Child Abuse PA (co-chairman of the development advisory board). He is a past board member of the Pennsylvania Intergovernmental Cooperation Authority.

McColgan earned his master of business administration and bachelor of arts in political science from Villanova University. ••
