Suspect charged in shooting of 16-year-old boy

The victim passed away Sunday evening.

Police have charged an 18-year-old Castor Gardens resident for shooting a 16-year-old boy in the head.

Muhammed Goode, who lives on the 2200 block of St. Vincent Street, was charged with aggravated assault and attempted murder after allegedly shooting Messiah Chiverton multiple times in the head.

The attempted murder charge is expected to be upgraded to murder. Police said Chiverton passed away Sunday evening.

The shooting happened Wednesday, Oct. 11, at around 4:25 p.m. on the 2100 block of Magee Avenue. A nearby police officer witnessed the shooting and arrested the suspect.

Chiverton was a junior at Frankford High School, and Goode was either a current or past student at Northeast High School.

Friday night’s football game between Northeast and visiting Frankford has been canceled in the wake of the incident. ••
