Quite an honor: An award was presented to Ronald Hancock and his son, Harrison Hancock, by Deron Youse, at a recent ceremony.

Hancock Funeral Home, 8018 Roosevelt Blvd., was honored by the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association for 100-plus years of professional service to families and the community.

The award was presented to Ronald Hancock and his son, Harrison Hancock, by Deron Youse, PFDA president, at a special recognition ceremony held at the 137th PFDA Convention and Expo.

Ronald and Carol Hancock have operated the funeral home for more than 30 years. The family, beginning with Ray V. Hancock and followed by Raymond Hancock, began serving families in Nicetown in 1917.

The funeral home moved to its current location in the early 1960s. Organized in 1881, the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association is the largest state funeral directors’ association in the nation, and a member of the National Funeral Directors Association. ••
