Dr. Michael Magro Jr. has been named president.
Nazareth Hospital named Dr. Michael Magro Jr. its president. Magro had been vice president for medical affairs. Dr. Edward O’Dell replaces Magro in that role.
Magro assumed leadership from Nancy Cherone, who held the title of executive director and led the hospital for six years. Cherone started at Nazareth in 2009 as vice president of operations. She is retiring after 45 years of healthcare service.
“We are so thankful for Nancy Cherone’s outstanding service to Nazareth and Mercy Health System over the last decade,” Magro said. “I’m very grateful for this opportunity and look forward to positioning Nazareth for the future and continuing its more than 75-year legacy of service to Northeast Philadelphia.”
Magro received his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Mercy Suburban Hospital. He also holds a master’s degree in business administration from Eastern University. O’Dell is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine. ••
