Brews at Burholme event to be held this Saturday

Burholme Park Golf Center and Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company will host upcoming days of family fun at the Brews at Burholme at the golf center, 401 Cottman Ave.

Future Brews at Burholme events are set for noon to 6 p.m. on July 28, Aug. 25, Sept. 22 and Oct. 20.

There will be discounts, including $1 off mini-golf. Draft beers will be available, and the golf range, arcade, batting cages and golf center café will be open. A portion of the proceeds will go directly back to Burholme Park.

Ryan alums headed to North Wildwood

The annual Archbishop Ryan High School shore reunion will take place on Saturday, July 28, from 5 to 10 p.m. at The Inlet on Olde (formerly Westy’s), 101 E. Walnut Ave., in North Wildwood, New Jersey.

Tickets cost $30 in advance and $35 at the door. There will be drink specials and a complimentary buffet, along with free draft beer from 5 to 8 p.m.

AARP is seeking volunteer tutors 50 and older

Tutoring, AARP is recruiting volunteer tutors 50 and older.

Learn about becoming an AARP tutor to children at Northeast Regional Library, 2228 Cottman Ave., from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on the following days: Wednesday, July 25, Tuesday, Aug. 14, Wednesday, Aug. 15, and Thursday, Aug. 16.

Guess Who tribute concert is Wednesday night

The Pennypack Park Music Festival will continue on Wednesday, July 25, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. with a performance by Hand Me Down World, a tribute to the Guess Who.

Concerts take place at the Ed Kelly Amphitheater, near the park entrance at Welsh Road and Cresco Avenue.

Guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.

The rest of the lineup is Idol Kings, tribute to Journey (Aug. 8); Black Dog, tribute to Led Zeppelin (Aug. 15); LeCompt (Aug. 22); and Think Pink Floyd, tribute to Pink Floyd (Sept. 5).

Frankford Fitness Series continues

The Frankford Fitness Series offers yoga for beginners and zumba classes on three upcoming Saturdays.

The classes will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Frankford Pause Park, 4667 Paul St.

Yoga classes will take place on July 28 and Aug. 11.

A Zumba class will take place on Aug. 25.

Participants are asked to bring their own mats. ••

Free movies coming to Pennypack on the Delaware

Riverfront North Partnership will present an outdoor movie series on four upcoming Thursday nights on the soccer field at Pennypack on the Delaware, a riverfront park at 7750 State Road (near Rhawn Street).

The schedule is July 26, A Bug’s Life; Aug. 2, Ghostbusters (1984); Aug. 9, Star Wars: The Force Awakens; and Aug. 16, Back to the Future.

Movies will be shown at sundown.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs/blankets and snacks. ••

The Norphans, graduates of North Catholic High School, will hold their seventh annual reunion at Keenan’s in North Wildwood, New Jersey on Saturday, July 28.

Free weight-loss program seeking new members

The Trevose Behavior Modification Program is taking new members.

Family Night at Holmesburg Library

Holmesburg Library, 7810 Frankford Ave., will host Friends Family Night in the Garden on Wednesday, Aug. 8, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The evening will include face painting, an art activity, water ice and a storytelling of Aesop’s Fables.

Doo Wop Festival at FOP

The Philadelphia Doo Wop Festival will take place on Sunday, Sept. 16, from 2 to 7 p.m. at Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5, 11630 Caroline Road.

Admission is $25 and includes food, draft beer and soda. Parking is free, and a shuttle bus will be available.

All proceeds benefit the FOP survivors fund.

Ten of the area’s top vocal groups will perform, and some of Philadelphia’s best oldies radio disc jockeys will be in attendance.

Ukrainian festival on Aug. 26

The 27th annual Ukrainian Folk Festival will take place on Sunday, Aug. 26, from noon to 8 p.m. at the Ukrainian American Sport Center, at County Line and Lower State roads in Horsham.

The event will feature vendors and Ukrainian folk music, dance, foods, historical reenactments and arts and crafts.

Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students 15 and older and free for kids under 15. Parking is free.

Shaare Shamayim heading to NYC

Congregations of Shaare Shamayim’s Sisterhood is planning a trip to New York to see Once on This Island on Wednesday, Oct. 24.

The show is the story of a fearless peasant girl in search of her place in the world who is ready to risk it all for love.

The bus will depart from Shaare Shamayim, 9768 Verree Road, at 8 a.m. Snacks will be served on the bus.

National Night Out in Fox Chase

State Rep. Kevin Boyle will host a National Night Out event for residents of the 172nd Legislative District on Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Fox Chase Elementary School parking lot, 500 Rhawn St.

Boyle said there will be games, prizes and giveaways, music entertainment, food, information about state and local resources, and chances to meet with local police and emergency personnel.

Comic Con set for Convention Center

Keystone Comic Con will take place on Friday through Sunday, Sept. 14–16, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, 11th and Arch streets. The event will feature appearances by comic book talent and celebrities, including actors and musicians.

Among those who will be participating are actress Anna Paquin, some stars of the television show The Office and professional wrestling manager Jim Cornette.

The scene will also include an artist alley, cosplay and merchandise. General admission, premium and super VIP tickets are available.
