Volunteers clean up creek in Parkwood

Volunteers removed 21 bags of trash.

Pitching in: Friends of Poquessing Watershed thanks the neighbors of Medford Road and Ancona Road in Parkwood for alerting it to an area of the creek in desperate need of a cleanup. The cleanup took place last Saturday, and the haul included 21 bags of trash, lawn chair parts, a tote lid, four full beer cans, parts of planters, ceramic tiles and many bags of dog waste. The group urges dog owners to not throw bags of dog waste into parks or down sewers, which flow to creeks, rivers and the ocean. Dog waste should be thrown into trash receptacles. Friends of Poquessing Watershed holds cleanups on the second Saturday of the month along different areas of the Poquessing. Visit the group’s Facebook page to see the next cleanup site or report a problem area.
