A 29-year-old man was arrested and charged with indecent assault after he allegedly groped a 12-year-old girl who was walking to school Nov. 28 in Tacony.

Police said Joshua Perierra-Lopez, of the 4500 block of Higbee Street in Wissinoming, turned himself in hours after the alleged assault, which occurred around 8 a.m. on the 4500 block of Longshore Avenue.

Numerous local television stations shared a surveillance video from a nearby business that appeared to show a man running up behind the girl and reaching under her skirt. The girl is seen turning to confront the man before running in the opposite direction.

The victim was reportedly a student at Keystone Academy Charter School, which is also on the 4500 block of Longshore Avenue.

In addition to indecent assault, Lopez-Perierra was charged with terroristic threats and simple assault, police said. Authorities said he surrendered around 9:45 p.m. inside the 25th Police District station.

Lopez-Perierra has no previous arrests locally, according to police. ••
